What is This About?
AI “slop” refers to low-quality, low-effort media like images, videos, writing etc created with AI and the bare minimum of human input.
While we are not against AI as an idea or as a tool, AI slop has become so pervasive and easy to make that it is now slowly killing the internet, and human creativity as a whole.
It is undeniable that media and internet content quality has declined in a way never seen before. While there’s so much media available today, the majority of platforms are now saturated with AI slop, at the same time making it harder for quality content to shine.
We need action not to stop AI progress, but to Return Humans.
How to Stop the Slop
ReturnHumans is not a project aimed at stopping AI development, but at a return to better quality, human crafted content. We’d really like AI to be a tool for creators to make high-quality content, and not as a quick way to generate low-effort content.
But as is it now, something must be done to avoid reaching a point where a return to human created quality content will be impossible and everything we see is just AI slop. ReturnHumans is taking action to #StopTheSlop through a multidisciplinary approach and with concrete measures.
AI-Free Platform
Starting with HumansTube, we are building an ecosystem of platforms dedicated exclusively to human generated content.
With an initial focus on video, shorts, and podcasts, HumansTube will incentivize human created content in a space without the background noise of AI generated content.
Creators Funding
We understand that for many indie creators, AI content is the only way to start a project with a low or no budget at all, even if it compromises the final quality.
With ReturnHumans MicroGrants we aim to help creators to hire artists, voice actors, coders, etc. for small tasks without having to rely on AI generated content for their projects.
AI Filtering and More
We are building several tools that will help filter AI slop from your daily browsing and content feeds.
We are also working on business partnerships, consulting, and training to allow companies to turn away from careless AI usage and return to human generated content without losing the perceived cost advantage of AI.
